Expand your knowledge and design opportunities with these more advanced weaves!
Students of all skill levels are welcome in this new 2-day workshop with Gail Thayer! Those who took Gail's weaving class in December may choose two advanced flat weave patterns to make in this workshop: Basket, modified basket, zigzag twill, undulating or scalloped. New students will learn the foundation weaves.
Gail can also do individualized kits for these weaves so students may choose their metals (sterling silver and/or copper) and the finished size they desire. Cost will vary according to metal type and size chosen.
A kit will be supplied by the instructor that includes pre-cut metal strips, a weaving mat, denting tools and a knitting needle. The cost of the kit is $60 for beginners and for those who participated in the first workshop, the kit fee is $35 for the wire and clipboard. You will be weaving a piece about 2 by 6 inches with copper corrugated flat wire and sterling round wire. Copper wire will be flattened, corrugated and cut to size. Sterling wire will be straightened and cut to size.
There are still seats available! Don't miss out! Go to www.wcfsg.com or www.wcfsg.org for details!

Course Description - Day 2:
Option 1 - Students who took my weaving class in December may choose 2 advanced flat weave patterns to make: basket, modified basket, zigzag twill, undulating or scalloped. I can do individualized kits for these weaves so students may choose their metals (sterling silver and/or copper) and the finished size they desire. Cost will vary according to metal type and size chosen.
Please bring the weaving kit from your previous class - weaving mat, denting tools and wooden knitting needle.
Option 2 - The rest of the students will be forming their completed corrugated weave in the hydraulic press and soldering on a backing.
Please bring filing and sanding tools. You will also need 26 gauge sterling sheet to use as the backing. 24 or 28 gauge will work as well. I will provide paste solder and water based Wite-Out for anti-flux.
