GOLD GRANULATION AS COMPONENT
PATRICIA TSCHETTER

Patricia Tschetter has mastered the art of granulation! Using both high-karat gold and a form of fine silver known as Argentium. Her unique, contemporary spin on this ancient technique led to Niche Awards in 2010 and 2011.
This adventurous workshop is for the intermediate to advanced metalsmith. You must be experienced with fusing both Argentium and high karat gold.! Because this is our 30th anniversary, the class working in 22 karat gold to create a small, mostly all gold component to be used as an embellishment in a design of your choice. If you prefer, you'll be able to do all the projects strictly in Argentium silver but the emphasis will be on adding gold to the Argentium pieces. By offering you your choice of metals and projects, this workshop is tailor-made to suit your metalsmithing skills and budget!
Students will be bezel-setting cabochons with FUSED bezels and incorporating granulation into the design of a ring, cuff, earring or brooch. Tricia will demo and share her techniques for successful fusing, the making of granules, granulation and making bezels along with discussion of design. And....gold is expensive but this gold granulated component will be small can be the focal point for an Argentium ring or be the central point for a titanium pendant or even a steel cuff. Students will leave with a finished gold granulated component to add to a cuff, pendant, ring, etc

Patricia Tschetter's Bio:
Patricia began her jewelry career in 1998 after having been a Marriage and Family Therapist. After taking classes at the Craft Guild of Dallas, she went on to take workshops from various teachers at The Revere Academy in San Francisco, through the Florida Society of Goldsmiths, and others.Her most influential teacher has been Jean Stark from whom she learned granulation.
Patricia has been a Niche finalist in 2005, 2009 and a Niche winner in 2010 and 2011. The World Gold Council chose Patricia's work for their 2009 campaign. Her work was displayed and publlished in the WGC’s booth at the JCK show and publication in "New Trends in Gold" catalogue. The American Jewelry Design Council recognized her as the runner-up in the 2009 New Talent Competition at the 2009 Summer JA show in New York. Her work has been featured in Modern Jeweler, National Jeweler, Niche, Lapidary Journal/Jewelry Artist, Ornament, JCK Style, Couture International Jeweler, Metalsmith and Art Jewelry Magazine. She has published articles on Keum-boo and Granulation for Art Jewelry and Lapidary Journal/Jewelry Artist magazines, respectively.
Patricia has two pairs of earrings in 500 Earrings: New Directions in Contemporary Jewelry (Lark Books, 2007) and 2 pieces appear in 500 Gemstone Jewels(Lark Books, 2010). Her work is carried by galleries nation-wide, and she has exhibited around the country. Patricia lives and works in Dallas, Texas with her husband, Bob, and two dogs, Rufus and Lucy.
